Letter from Mr. Newbery to Mr. Vesey, on 30 Nov 1715, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: 10
"Sir,
My kind love and humble respects & service presented unto you hoping through God's mercy these lines will find you alive and in good health as at this present writing I am, I praise God, although aged and crazy and have been visited with abundance of sickness, since I came to Philadelphia, which is about 15 years and a half, Sir, I am bound to remember you with love thankfulness for all the love and kind benedictions that I received from you when I was your Parish Clerk in Tiffield and especially for your good instruction I received from you during the time of your ministry there. ..."

Mistaken Identity: 11
It appears that John Newbery wrote to the wrong person. If you click on the document to the right you'll see that the Rector at St. John the Baptist Church in Tiffield was named Richard Vesy and not the William Vesey who was Rector in Trinity parish, New York. Richard became the Rector at St. John the Baptist in 1694 and stayed for four years. However, that mistake put John's letter into a history book and provided this researcher with a key clue as to where to look for proof that he was the father of the five boys listed in Richard Newbery's will.
